Vol. 435 No. 9

Written Answers. - General Practice Unit Remunerations.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

47 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Health the remuneration payable to general practice units.

Officers of a Health Board who are involved in the management or administration of General Practice Units are remunerated in accordance with the appropriate salary scale payable in respect of the grades of such officers. General Practitioners are remunerated at the rate of £135 per day, including locum cover. Pharmacological expertise provided other than by officers of a Board is remunerated at a rate of £100 per day. These specific rates recognise that a third of the total commitment of such professionals may be spent on necessary research, study and other preparatory work in connection with the function of the Unit.
