Vol. 435 No. 9

Written Answers. - Hip Replacement Operation.

Jim Higgins

Question:

51 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for a hip replacement operation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person concerned was assessed at an out-patient clinic at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar in July 1993, and the hospital hopes to be in a position to call the patient for a further out-patient assessment on 22 November next. Following this assessment, the consultant will decide whether the patient should be scheduled for admission to hospital for a hip replacement operation.
