Vol. 435 No. 9

Written Answers. - Cork CSO Office.

Peter Barry

Question:

126 Mr. Barry asked the Taoiseach if he will ensure that as many people as possible from the Mahon area in Cork are employed in appropriate positions when the new Central Statistics Office opens early in 1994.

Normal Civil Service decentralisation arrangements are being followed in staffing the new Central Statistics Office in Cork. This involves the transfer of civil servants who have opted to relocate to Cork. It was also necessary to recruit some professional, technical and other officers through the Civil Service Commission.

Small numbers of services officers and services attendants are being recruited directly by the Central Statistics Office. In order to target unemployed persons this recruitment has been organised through the FÁS office in Cork.
