Vol. 435 No. 10

Written Answers. - Raheny (Dublin) School.

Richard Bruton

Question:

177 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has for the continued use as an education establishment of the school on Springdale Road previously run by the Holy Rosary Order; and whether a decision on a number of competiting applications will be made in the near future.

Rosary College, Springdale Road, Raheny, is currently being phased out as a secondary school and will finally close in 1995. As the school is privately owned and managed, the question of the disposal of the premises would be one for the school authorities, subject to recoupment being made to my Department in respect of the capital grants paid to the school.

I understand that the City of Dublin Vocational School Education Committee are currently negotiating with the school authorities for the rental of surplus accommodation in the school during the phasing out period for the purpose of conducting certain adult education courses.
