Máirín Quill

Question:

19 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Education if the findings of the recent official report on the proposed second level school for Glanmire/Riverstown have been brought to her attention; her conclusions on the findings; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Pat Cox

Question:

154 Mr. Cox asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the provision of a second level school (details supplied) in County Cork.

Bernard Allen

Question:

165 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction a second level school for Glanmire, County Cork; and if she will make available the findings of the two inspectors who visited the area on 17 August 1993, and met with the local Action Group and TDs.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 19, 154 and 165 together.

Officials from my Department visited the Riverstown/Glanmire area recently and held discussions with the local second-level school committee, clergy and public representatives. Having considered the report of the officials which was prepared solely for the Minister's information I have decided to authorise, in principle, the provision of a second level school in Glanmire.
