Vol. 436 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Enda Kenny

Question:

120 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment when approval for preparation of contract documents will issue in respect of an extension of the regional scheme from Emlybeg to Elly Bay, a distance of five miles approximately; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Proposals for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. The question of funding is being examined in the context of the post-1993 Operational Programme for Environmental Services.

Question:

121 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment when approval for a 0.5 mile extension will issue in respect of the regional main south from Emlybeg under the small schemes programmes for 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sanitary services programme, I am not in a position to indicate when it may be possible to approve this scheme.

Question:

122 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment when the Dooyork group water scheme will proceed to construction in view of the fact that planning of this scheme is well advanced; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Group water scheme grants and contributions from group members are unlikely to suffice to finance this scheme which, in consequence, may require a substantial contribution from the provision for public water and sanitary services schemes. Having regard to the overall demand on that provision, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this scheme.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

123 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for the Environment when he will approve the extension to the Navan sewerage scheme, County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An environmental impact statement has been submitted by Meath County Council for the Navan sewerage augmentation scheme and I intend to complete the assessment of this very shortly.
