Vol. 436 No. 1

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Paul Bradford

Question:

139 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the disadvantages of a January-December milk quota year with reference to the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 69 of 4 November 1993.

The seasonality of Irish milk production makes it easier for farmers to manage their quota in a quota year ending in March rather than December.

I would point out again, however, that the milk quota year is defined under Community legislation and there is no prospect of a redefinition in the foreseeable future.
