Vol. 436 No. 1

Written Answers. - Woodstock Demesne, County Kilkenny.

Phil Hogan

Question:

92 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will take charge of Woodstock Demesne, Inistioge, County Kilkenny, in view of the importance of this amenity to the people of Kilkenny; the contribution that it can make to tourism; the improvements to be carried out at that location; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Woodstock Demesne would not be considered a suitable site for acquisition as a heritage site. At present it is managed by Coillte Teoranta on long term lease from the Tighe Estate. It is not of any particular conservation value in ecological or archaeological terms. Coillte Teoranta have provided gardens and an amenity area for the public within the estate.
