Vol. 436 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grants for Voluntary Housing Projects.

John Bruton

Question:

112 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment the number of applications he has received from housing associations in County Meath for grant aid for the provision of accommodation; the number that have been granted; his views on whether adequate capital is available for this scheme in general; and the application procedure for the scheme.

My Department's involvement with individual voluntary housing projects relates primarily to the provision, within the allocation available in the Public Capital Programme, of funds for them. The administration of the schemes involved, and the certification that particular projects comply with the terms of the schemes, are the responsibility of the local authority, in this instance Meath County Council. To date six applications for grants under the scheme have been received by the county council and approved. Adequate capital is available for funding the schemes.
