Vol. 436 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Kinsale (Cork) Drugs Haul.

Deputy Jim O'Keeffe gave me notice of his intention to raise the matter of the circumstances surrounding the £0.5 million worth of drugs hauled in by a fishing vessel off Kinsale, County Cork, and the measures necessary to prevent further landings of drugs along our coastline.

Where are the Labour Ministers?

I will finish the business now if that is what you desire. If this kind of conduct continues I will adjourn the House forthwith.

The Minister——

Deputy Allen, do you want me to adjourn?

Would the Minister for Health——

Deputy Allen, if you persist I will leave the Chamber.

Why would——

Deputy Allen——

I take no offence from anything that the Minister for Health, Deputy Howlin says, because it does not matter. The fact is that the Tánaiste did not accept responsibility here in this House and he is not fit for his office.

Deputy Bruton, you are not in order now.

That is nonsense.

Deputy O'Keeffe, unless you proceed now I will not repeat my intention to adjourn the proceedings.

The Tánaiste cannot take it.

(Interruptions.)

You were never good at——

The man who wants——

A Cheann Comhairle, it is very clear——

A Deputy

Was it the Tánaiste's programme manager?

(Interruptions.)

Having regard to the continuous disorder, I have no option but to adjourn the proceedings of this House until 10.30 a.m. tomorrow morning.

The Dáil adjourned at 9.5 p.m. until 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, 25 November 1993.
