Helen Keogh

Question:

31 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Justice the time it takes for the payment of out of pocket expenses approved by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Pat Cox

Question:

69 Mr. Cox asked the Minister for Justice the time it takes for the payment of out of pocket expenses approved by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 31 and 69 together.

I am informed by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal that the time taken to pay awards of compensation varies from case to case and that priority as regards payment is determined by the date of acceptance of the award. In this context, persons being paid their awards this month accepted those awards in March 1992.
