Vol. 436 No. 4

Written Answers. - Community Wardens.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

146 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for the Environment the steps, if any, he proposes to take in view of the fact that Dublin Corporation's Community Wardens have been forced to work to the Corporation's job description which effectively means the serious curtailment of the social activities available to the senior citizens resident in Corporation complexes, and that wardens will not be available to attend to any calls outside their official working hours from Monday to Friday.

I understand that the union representing the community wardens have referred this matter to the Labour Relations Commission and that Dublin Corporation has indicated to the commission its willingness to attend a conciliation meeting. In these circumstances it would be inappropriate for me to make any comment on the position.
