Vol. 436 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Question:

191 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the date of an application for a sheep subsidy from a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; the progress of the application to date; the likely outcome of the application; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for ewe premium on 200 sheep on 12 March 1993 but presented only 154 for inspection. No written notification was received in respect of the 46 sheep which were absent. As this shortfall exceeded 10 per cent of the total number of ewes on which he claimed premium he is not entitled to payment of premium under the conditions of the scheme as laid down by the EC.

The person named was not an applicant under the sheep headage scheme.

Question:

192 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the date of application for suckler cow premium from a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; the progress of this application to date; the likely outcome of this application; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for 1992 suckler cow premium on 17 December 1992. Four of the cows on which he applied were listed on an application received from another person on 18 December 1992, only a day later. In view of these circumstances futher investigation is necessary before a decision can be made on this person's eligibility.
