Question:

206 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health the amount of expenditure in 1992 under the general medical scheme for drugs; and the amount of the expenditure in question which was expended on the purchase of tranquiliser type drugs.

Total expenditure on drugs and medicines under the General Medical Services Scheme in 1992 amounted to £134,838,000. Expenditure during the same period in respect of tranquilisers under the scheme amounted to £5,573,156.
