Vol. 436 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sick Pay Scheme.

Enda Kenny

Question:

136 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Health the reason an allowance from the Western Health Board has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The sick pay scheme in the health board is administered by the chief executive officer. The grant of sick leave is therefore at the discreation of the chief executive officer. I have had inquiries made with the Western Health Board regarding this case. The chief executive officer has exercised his discreation in deciding not to grant sick leave pay having had due regard to the circumstances of this particular case and the sick leave record of the person concerned.

I understand, however, that the case is under review at the present time and that a meeting with the person concerned will be arranged in the near future.
