Vol. 436 No. 8

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Doyle — the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 160 of 30 November, 1993 in view of the case of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; (2) Deputy Durkan — the need to re-examine the application for deserted wife's benefit of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; (3) Deputy Flanagan — the need to investigate the reported content of a study showing a higher than average number of children with limb deformities born in the State; (4) Deputy Connaughton — the increasing number of burglaries in rural Ireland, in particular the recent spate of such incidents in Moylough, County Galway, where the local post office was raided twice in one week; the adequacy of Garda cover between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. when most of these raids take place; and the plans to combat such crimes; (5) Deputy Theresa Ahearn — the serious shortage of classrooms at CBS High School, Clonmel, County Tipperary, which will prevent an intake of first year students in September, 1994 unless an adequate grant is provided immediately; and (6) Deputy Bradford — the Minister for the Environment's intentions as regards Cork County Council in view of the council's failure to adopt its estimates within the required period.

The Ceann Comhairle has selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Durkan, Doyle, Bradford and Flanagan.
