Question:24 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if his Department's policy towards increased tourist numbers should be aimed at value rather than volume; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Government target, as shown in the National Development Plan 1994-1999 is to achieve an increase of 50 per cent in real terms in foreign tourism revenue by the end of 1999. It does not specify targets for growth in tourist numbers.
