Vol. 436 No. 8

Written Answers. - Galway Road Funding.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

66 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Environment when work will proceed on the eastern approach road in Galway; if this has been submitted to the EC for funding; and if all the necessary information has been forwarded to the EC.

I certified the Environment Impact Statement for the Galway Eastern Approach Road, Phase 3, on 30 September 1993 and it is now a matter for Galway Corporation to proceed with the preparation of contract documents for the project.

Consideration is being given to including the scheme in the Transport Operational Programme under the National Development Plan, 1994-1999, which will be submitted to the EU. Pending decisions in this regard, it would be premature to indicate when work might commence.
