Dáil Éireann debate -
Thursday, 9 Dec 1993

Vol. 437 No. 1

Request to Move Adjournment of Dáil Under Standing Order 30.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 30 from Deputy Doyle. I call on the Deputy to state the matter of which she has given notice to me.

I wish to request the Adjournment of the Dáil to debate the specific and urgent matter of the rejection of the National Development Plan 1994-99 by the European Commission due to the failure to comply with Framework Regulation 2081 of 1993 on Integrated Environmental Assessment Plans.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order and, accordingly, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.

In view of the importance attached to our development plan by the Government——

Deputy Doyle, you may not pursue the matter now. There are many ways open to the Deputy to pursue this matter under the procedures of this House.
