Vol. 437 No. 2

Written Answers. - Iarnrod Éireann Retirement Scheme.

Frank Crowley

Question:

153 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will introduce legislation which would allow staff at Iarnrod Éireann to avail of an early retirement scheme at the age of 60 years.

The provisions of superannuation schemes for Coras Íompar Éireann are primarily the responsibility of the management of the company who have informed me that under the terms of the CIE Superannuation Scheme, 1951 — salaried staff — and the CIE regular wages grade pension scheme, there is already provision for the payment of pension benefits in cases of early retirement between the ages of 60 and 65.
