Vol. 437 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cusack Society Request.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

202 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education if she will permit the Cusack Society to visit the reading- writing room, cell and printing press in the Convent of the Poor Clare Sisters of the Holy Cross, Kenmare, County Kerry, which was co-founded by Margaret Anna Cusack, also known as the Nun of Kenmare.

My Department has made inquiries regarding the reading-writing room, cell and printing press in the former Convent of the Poor Clare Sisters of the Holy Cross, Kenmare and was informed that they no longer exist. It is understood that the nuns' cell was converted into a classroom some years ago.

A visit to the school site can be arranged through my Department in due course if so required.
