Vol. 437 No. 3

Written Answers. - Secret Service Agents.

Nora Owen

Question:

65 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Justice if she has received any information concerning the number of agents of the United Kingdom secret services operating in the Republic of Ireland; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It is not the practice for Ministers for Justice to comment on matters of a security nature. However, I can assure the Deputy that this State has not and will not authorise any person of the kind described to operate within our jurisdiction. Evidence of any attempt to do so would be a matter for investigation by the Garda authorities.
