Vol. 437 No. 4

Written Answers. - Industrial Development Bodies.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

108 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the way in which the relative budgets and staffing levels of IDA Ireland and Forbairt will compare in 1994; and the former functions of IDA Ireland that will be administered by Forbairt.

The relative budgets and staffing levels of all three new industrial development bodies, Forfás, Forbairt and IDA Ireland are currently being considered by an implementation committee involving the senior management of the new bodies, and under the chairmanship of my Department.

In relation to the matter of functions, Forbairt will deal with the Industrial Development Authority functions pertaining to indigenous manufacturing and internationally traded services industry, and natural resources, including the food industry, both indigenous and overseas.
