Vol. 437 No. 4

Written Answers. - Temporary Teacher Appointment.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

187 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education when she will approve the appointment of a temporary teacher to a school (details supplied) in County Cork.

As the Deputy is no doubt aware, negotiations have been taking place between all the interested parties for the past few months, in an attempt to arrive at an agreed local solution to this problem. My Department was informed earlier this week that these negotiations have now failed to resolve the issue. Therefore, the matter must now be re-examined in its entirety by my Department. Pending the outcome of this examination, I am not prepared to sanction the appointment of a temporary teacher to the school.
