Vol. 437 No. 4

Written Answers. - Beaumont Hospital Inquiry Costs.

Michael Finucane

Question:

52 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health the cost of the Beaumont inquiry.

There were two formal inquiries held and the costs associated with them are as follows:

Beaumont Hospital's costs:

Ministerial Inquiry £250,368

Medical Council Inquiry £83,818

These costs are being met from the hospital's approved revenue allocation.

The costs borne by my Department in relation to the Ministerial inquiry amount to £222,703.

The cost to the Medical Council of its inquiry is being met by the Council and I understand that the cost to date amounts to £1,250,000.
