Question:

73 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for the Environment the number and name of areas that his Department have declared designated areas under the urban renewal scheme.

Designated areas have been declared in the following 24 urban centres under the Urban Renewal Act, 1986: Athlone, Ballymun, Ballina, Bray, Carlow, Castlebar, Clonmel, Cork, Drogheda, Dublin, Dundalk, Ennis, Galway, Kilkenny, Letterkenny, Limerick, Longford, Portlaoise, Sligo, Tallaght, Tralee, Tullamore, Waterford, Wexford.

In addition, the Minister for Finance has announced in his Financial Statement that areas in other towns will be designated. The towns are Ballinasloe, Dungarvan, Enniscorthy, Killarney, Mallow, Monaghan, Mullingar, Navan, Nenagh, Newbridge, Roscommon and Wicklow.
