Vol. 438 No. 3

Written Answers. - Land Registry Office.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

43 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Justice the length of time it takes to register a Land Commission schedule with the Land Registry Office; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that, having regard to the volume of cases awaiting attention in the Land Registry, it is the policy to assign current resources to the registration of dealings, which rank in priority as of date of lodgment of the requisite documentation in the registry.

In the case of Land Commission schedules, the property is deemed to be registered as of date of vesting by the Land Commission. Registration of these schedules is thus, of necessity, afforded a lower priority than the registration of dealings.

Where a specific need arises which requires that registration of a schedule be completed, e.g. where a further transaction affecting the property in question arises, then the Land Registry will, as far as possible, expedite such cases.
