Question:281 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health the number of adoption orders made during the period 1980 to 1987 inclusive by the Adoption Board in favour of natural mothers alone, adopting their own illegitimate children.

The information requested by the Deputy was first published by the Adoption Board in its annual report for the year 1982 and is not available in respect of earlier years. A total of 23 adoption orders were made by the board in favour of natural mothers adopting their own children as sole applicants during the period 1982-1987.
