Written Answers. - County Mayo Schools.

John Ellis

Question:

292 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the extension and refurbishment of St. Mary's boys national school, Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim; and if provision has been made in the 1994 capital programme for this work.

The Department is awaiting a consultant's report and recommendations in relation to the heating and electrical system in the school in question. When this report is received and considered a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

298 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Education if she will give details of all schools in County Mayo who have requests with her Department for replacement or upgrading of heating systems and electrical systems.

There are currently ten primary schools in County Mayo who have applied for replacement or upgrading of heating and electrical systems. I am happy to tell the Deputy that all of these cases are currently being processed in the Department and work has commenced on a number of schools.

In regard to post-primary schools, an application has been received from Kiltimagh community school for upgrading of the heating system. No other applications have been received from post-primary schools in County Mayo for such repairs or upgrading.
