Vol. 438 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

36 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the reason a discretionary grant from the County Enterprise Board has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the reason such a grant has not been sanctioned; and if the County Enterprise Board is in a position to issue a low interest loan to this person.

My Department is not in receipt of any grant application in favour of the person in question. I am not in a position to comment on matters which are the internal business of the Galway County and City Enterprise Board. In the current, interim phase of their operation, county enterprise boards are not in a position to issue loans. This option will be considered as a matter of policy in the context of the establishment of the boards as independent developmental bodies, which I hope to advance in the near future.
