Vol. 438 No. 4

Written Answers. - Moneys Owing to Wildlife Caretaker.

Ivan Yates

Question:

93 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance the reason payments have not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who is a wildlife ranger and who operated on a part-time basis on the River Slaney since 1991; whether this person's employment is still required; and the terms of this person's employment with the Wildlife Service of his Department.

The person referred to was employed as a wildfowl sanctuary caretaker from 1978 until 1991 with an annual remuneration of £51.

In 1991, he advised that National Parks and Wildlife Service that he was quitting his caretaker position because of ill health. He was paid up to the end of 1991, and was considered to be no longer employed as a caretaker from that date.

He has not been in contact with the National Parks and Wildlife Service since 1991, and there is no evidence that he has worked as a caretaker since then.
