Vol. 438 No. 6

Written Answers. - Doneraile Court (Cork) Development.

Paul Bradford

Question:

64 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Finance if, following receipt of correspondence (details supplied) from Doneraile Community Development Council, Doneraile, County Cork, concerning future development of Doneraile Court and Gardens, he will give the plans, if any, which exist in this regard.

Doneraile Demesne in North Cork is currently a wildlife park holding five herds of deer totalling 404 animals. The Park is managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service of the Office of Public Works. Doneraile Court has been leased to the Irish Georgian Society since 1976 and has been partly restored by them.

The Irish Georgian Society will shortly be handing over the Court to the Office of Public Works when legal formalities have been dealt with.

When the hand over has taken place a strategic plan for the future of the Court and Demesne will be prepared. The planning authority, tourism interests and the local community development council will be among the bodies consulted in the preparation of this plan.
