Question:69 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of money paid out on setaside in 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The amount of money paid in respect of setaside in 1993 is estimated at £6.9 million. An additional £38.9 million was also paid to farmers in 1993 in respect of area aid for arable crops under the European Union support scheme.
