Question:

24 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the number of applications he has had in the past nine months from additional airlines to serve Shannon Airport either on the Atlantic, Cross-Channel or European routes.

One additional airline has applied to my Department in the past nine months to operate scheduled services to/from Shannon Airport. On 10 February, 1994 a US airline, Tower Air notified its intentions to operate a new scheduled service between Shannon and New York from 19 June, 1994.
