Vol. 439 No. 1

Written Answers. - TV Satellite Channels.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

55 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the latest position regarding his discussions with Cablelink regarding the possible restoration of a number of satellite channels to subscribers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of 9 December 1993 on this question — columns 93-96 of the Official Report for that day. I am informed by Cablelink that discussions are ongoing between the body representing most cable relay and MMDS operators and the satellite TV companies with a view to reaching agreement on charges for satellite TV programmes.
