Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Gerard C. Connolly

Question:

145 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a slatted shed grant of £4,860 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

John O'Leary

Question:

146 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when headage grant payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named was paid his 1993 cattle headage grant on 15 February 1994. He was paid an advance of his 1993 suckler cow premium on 10 December 1993 but payment of the balance cannot be made to a particular applicant until all applications received from him-her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density. The processing of November 1993 applications means that in most cases payment of the final 40 per cent of premium will not start before late March.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

147 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason payment in respect of one animal which was included in a beef premium application was not made to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for the June 1993 special beef premium on eight animals. One animal was rejected on age grounds and another had an invalid tag number. She was paid premium on 15 February 1994 on six animals and will be paid on the animal with the invalid tag when she provides the correct tag number.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

148 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the balance of beef premium due to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named has already been paid an advance payment under the 22 month January-February 1993 special beef premium scheme. Payment of the balance due less the appropriate penalty for a late application cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.
