Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin City Gaelscoileanna.

Paul McGrath

Question:

195 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education the number of Gaelscoileanna in existence in Dublin city at the moment; and the plans, if any, she has to provide a second level school or schools for the pupils from these schools.

In Dublin county there are 20 Gaelscoileanna, of which ten are in the Dublin city area.

The needs of pupils in Dublin seeking all-Irish post-primary education are at present met by six schools:— Coláiste Mhuire and Scoil Caitríona for the North City; Coláiste Eoin and Coláiste Íosagáin for the South City; Coláiste Chillian, Clondalkin; and Coláiste De hÍde, Tallaght.

My Department will continue to monitor the need for all-Irish post-primary education in Dublin to ensure that adequate provision will be available for children seeking such education.
