Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Drogheda (Louth) School.

Michael Bell

Question:

229 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education when sanction will be given to the proposal of Drogheda Vocational Education Committee to purchase part of the site of a company (details supplied) in County Louth to cater for the overflow of pupils at St. Laurence College, King Street, Drogheda, County Louth; if sanction will not be given, if she intends to allow the building of a new school; if so, when sanction to purchase a site for a new school will be given; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department is at present finalising a major evaluation of post primary school accommodation needs in the Drogheda area. The question of acquiring the premises referred to by the Deputy will be considered as part of this evaluation. I hope to be in a position to make a decision on the matter in the very near future.
