33 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to extend the school security pilot project currently operating in Finglas East, Dublin 11, to other groups of schools in view of its success; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
The security pilot project was introduced in June, 1993 to help alleviate the serious vandalism problem in the Finglas area. It was introduced for a period of one year. At the end of the current school-year its effectiveness will be reviewed. The question of continuing with the project in Finglas, or extending it to other areas, will be considered following the review.
