Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Gaeltacht Allowances.

Michael Creed

Question:

75 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance if he has satisfied himself that the Gaeltacht allowance is uniformly available across the public service.

The position in relation to Gaeltacht allowances for public servants is set out in my reply to the Deputy's question of 9 June 1993.

As indicated in reply to a further question from the Deputy on 8 February 1994, the payment of the allowance to an individual public servant is a matter for his or her direct employer in accordance with the relevant regulations applicable to the particular employment. The Minister for Finance is not involved in the implementation of these regulations.
