Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Nullity Cases.

Alan Shatter

Question:

87 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the number of nullity petitions issued in the High Court in each of the last ten years; the number of nullity decrees granted by the High Court in each of the last ten years; the grounds upon which each decree was granted; and the number of days each of the nullity cases heard in each of the last two years were at hearing in the High Court.

I am informed by the Chief Registrar of the High Court that the number of nullity petitions (applications) issued in the High Court and the number of nullity decrees granted in each of the last ten years is set out hereunder.

The information sought about the number of days at hearing and about the grounds for granting nullity is not readily available and would have to be specially compiled. As this could only be done at the expenses of other more pressing work, it would not be warranted.
