Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Ellis

Question:

110 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will pay 1993 beef premia to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

The person in question applied in June 1993 for special beef premium for both the 10 and 22 month schemes. These applications are being processed and an advance payment of 60 per cent as provided in EU regulations will be made shortly.

The balance due under this scheme cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

John Ellis

Question:

111 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the position regarding headage grants due to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo.

Inspections of the herd of the person named in August and December 1993 revealed a number of discrepancies which are still being investigated. His 1993 cattle headage grants and 1993 suckler cow premium cannot be paid until they have been resolved.

Jim Higgins

Question:

112 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the balance of headage will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named was paid advances of his 1993 cattle headage grant on 27 November 1993 and his 1993 suckler cow premium on 29 November 1993. His applications are being processed further at present and any balance of the headage grant due will be paid in the near future.

Payment of the balance of the suckler cow premium cannot be made to a particular applicant until all applications received from him-her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density. The processing of November 1993 applications means that in most cases payment of the final 40 per cent of premium will not start before late March.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

113 Mrs. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when cattle headage will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named was paid his 1993 cattle headage grant on 17 February 1994.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

114 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in having payment made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; the amount of payment due to him under the headage scheme; and the number of animals applied for.

The person named is not the registered owner of the herd number quoted. However the application under the herd number quoted for the January/February 1993 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present and the advance payment due will be made shortly.
