Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Sheep Quota Allocation.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

138 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a decision concerning the allocation of a sheep quota will be made in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person concerned was allocated a quota of 142 premium rights based on the number of eligible sheep on which he was paid premium in 1991 — the reference year. He later applied for an allocation of ewe premium quota from the national reserve under categories one and three. As the average number of ewes for which he was paid premium in 1988, 1989 and 1990 and 144, he is being informed that he is eligible for an additional two premium rights under category one. His application under category three will be processed as soon as he submits documentary evidence that he acquired land formerly used for sheep production.
