114 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if he will supply copies of all correspondence reports and other materials, both written and oral, between his Department and Fingal Council and Dublin City Council regarding prospects and closure possibilities for Dunsink landfill site; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Management of local authority landfill sites, including questions of closure and aftercare, are the responsibility of the local authority concerned.
My Department has had no written correspondence with the Dublin local authorities on the matter referred to in the question. Inquiries were made by my Department to Fingal County Council following representations to me about Dunsink landfill, and these elicited the information that the county council do not envisage a continuation of landfill operations at this site for more than three years.
