Vol. 439 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

76 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the final 40 per cent payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.

The person named was paid an advance of his 1993 cattle headage grant on 20 December 1993. His application is being processed further at present and any balance due will be paid in the near future.

He has also been paid 60 per cent advance payment under the 1993 suckler cow premium and the ten month June 1993 special beef premium schemes. Payment for the balance of the suckler cow premium and special beef premium cannot be made until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with European Union regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

His application for grants under the ten month November 1993 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present and any payment due under that scheme will be made in due course. He did not apply under the 22 month June or November 1993 special beef premium schemes.

Question:

77 Mr. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if the remaining 40 per cent slaughter grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if so, when.

The person named applied for deseasonalisation slaughter premium on 56 animals in 1993. He has already been paid the full slaughter premium on 50 of these animals. Processing of the claim in respect of the remaining six animals has been delayed because of a problem regarding the ages declared on the application for special beef premium in January 1993. Deseasonalisation slaughter premium cannot be paid on the six animals while this problem remains unresolved.
