Vol. 440 No. 1

Written Answers. - Mortgage Allowances.

Liz McManus

Question:

76 Ms McManus asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that applicants for mortgages are being penalised by lending agencies if they apply for fixed interest rate mortgages and are availing of the mortgage allowance specified in the social housing scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The mortgage allowances scheme is administered by local authorities and nothing of the nature suggested in the question has been brought to my attention. If the Deputy provides me with further details, I will see if any action on my part would be appropriate.
