Question:77 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Justice when a map for the area aid scheme applied for on the 17 November 1993, by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will issue.
Written Answers. - Area Aid Scheme Application.
I have had inquiries made of the Registrar of Titles about the application referred to by the Deputy and I am informed that, despite extensive searches in the Land Registry, it has not been possible to trace the application referred to. The Registrar of Titles has indicated, however, that the Land Registry is experiencing a huge influx of applications for copy file plan maps as a result of the area aid scheme. Since the beginning of 1994, the level of intake is 100 per cent higher than for the corresponding period last year. All available staff in Mapping Branch and Records Section of the Land Registry are working overtime at present in an effort to deal with the applications. All applications are being processed in order of receipt and it would be impracticable to deal with any particular application out of turn.
However, if the applicant referred to in the question can supply information to the Land Registry confirming that he made application on 17 November 1993, the matter will be attended to as quickly as possible.
