Vol. 440 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rural Development Workers.

Mary Wallace

Question:

140 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment whether there are incentives available to the farming community to take people off the live register to work in rural development.

There are no particular incentives operated under the auspices of my Department which are specifically geared towards taking members of the farming community per se off the live register to work in rural development. It is, of course, open to such persons to apply for any of the conventional FÁS schemes—some of which may have a rural development dimension — and their applications will be considered on the basis of prevailing eligibility criteria.
