Vol. 440 No. 4

Written Answers. - Home Help Service.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

341 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if he will review the home help service which is provided to an association (details supplied) in Dublin 8 with a view to ensuring that the constraints which are currently placed on the service are removed so that urgent cases can be dealt with.

The provision of home help services in Dublin 8 is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in association with the relevant voluntary organisations. I have been informed by the Eastern Health Board that there has been no curtailment in the level of service for persons who are in receipt of the service in Dublin 8 at present.

The board, and the voluntary organisation referred to by the Deputy, are presently reviewing all aspects of the service within the resources available with a view to providing a service to those additional persons who have recently been referred and whose need is urgent.
