Vol. 440 No. 4

Written Answers. - Third Level Fees.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

394 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to monitor the increase in third level fees.

The Higher Education Authority has the statutory function of advising my Department on all aspects of third level education. As part of this function it monitors the levels of fees charged and consults my Department as appropriate but particularly in relation to any proposed increases. Fee levels are also considered in the context of the preparation of the annual estimates of expenditure on higher education.
